TRAFFIC RECOVERY

Find why search demand stopped reaching you

A traffic drop has a cause, and guessing costs months. We separate surface change from ranking loss, name the cause with evidence, then fix it.

DIRECT ANSWER

How a traffic drop gets diagnosed

Search traffic falls for a small number of reasons. An answer surface may now sit above your result. The site may have changed, or the index may have dropped pages. Demand may have moved, or a competitor may have taken the position. Each leaves a different signature in Search Console. We read impressions against clicks per query group, then check the live surface and the crawl. Naming the cause takes days, and fixing the wrong one costs months.

What the diagnosis covers

Six checks in order. The cheap explanations are also the most common ones.

Surface change

Whether an AI Overview, a local pack or another feature now answers the query, which cuts clicks while impressions hold.

Index coverage

Pages dropped, deindexed, canonicalised away or blocked, checked page by page rather than in aggregate.

Technical change

Redirects, rendering, response codes, speed and template changes shipped near the drop date.

Content and quality

Pages that lost coverage of the question, thinned by a template change, or now answer worse than the page above them.

Demand shift

Seasonality and genuine demand movement, separated from a ranking loss by comparing impressions across matched windows.

Competitive loss

Positions taken by a specific competitor, with their page compared against yours on coverage and evidence.

THE ONE RESULT WE CAN PROVE

We built a roofing company to $1 million a year on search alone

Searchmaxxed grew out of Radiant Roof Repairs, a Gold Coast roofing business Brenden built with search as its only marketing channel. Everything below comes from that company's own records, and it is the only result on this site that is ours rather than a client's.

ANNUAL REVENUE
$1m+, from zero

A new business with no traffic and no reviews reached more than $1 million a year in revenue.

TIME TO NUMBER ONE
Three searches, 90 days

Three high-intent roofing searches held the top organic position within 90 days of the work starting.

MARKETING CHANNEL
Search, and nothing else

No ad budget, no bought leads, no outbound calling, so every enquiry traced back to a page or the profile.

MARKET
One trade, Gold Coast

One market with beatable competitors. Yours is sized in the audit before anyone promises a timeline.

Revenue comes from the company's own records and the search figures from Google Search Console for the same property. It records what happened in one market, and your market gets sized in the audit.

WHERE IT GOES WRONG

Why recovery work usually fails

The common mistake is treating a drop as one event. Clicks fall for several reasons at once, and an aggregate chart hides all of them.

The second is rewriting content immediately. Where the cause is a redirect chain or a lost canonical, new content adds cost and changes nothing.

Aggregate reading only

A single sitewide chart cannot separate a surface change from a ranking loss. Query groups can.

No release history

Without deploy dates, a technical cause looks like an algorithm update and gets treated as one.

Content rewritten first

Rewriting before diagnosis is the most expensive way to test a theory, and it often removes the pages that still worked.

Recovery never verified

Without a pre-drop baseline per query group, nobody can say whether the fix worked.

HOW THE WORK RUNS

How recovery runs

Four steps. The cause gets named before anything ships.

Date the drop precisely

We find the day it started and match it against your release log and any Google update.
INPUT

Search Console access, analytics, deploy history

OUTPUT

A dated timeline with the drop isolated

Split the signals

We read impressions against clicks per query group. Then we check what the results page returns now.
INPUT

Query-level data, live surface checks

OUTPUT

The cause named, with the evidence behind it

Fix the cause

We ship the specific fix, whether that is indexing, redirects, rendering, coverage or evidence on the page.
INPUT

Approved fix list, site access

OUTPUT

Changes shipped, each tied to the diagnosis

Verify the recovery

We track the affected query group weekly against the pre-drop baseline until it recovers or the cause is disproved.
INPUT

Weekly readings, baseline windows

OUTPUT

A recovery report per query group

MEASUREMENT

How we measure recovery

Every claim about a cause carries the query group, the window and the date behind it.

IMPRESSIONS AGAINST CLICKS

Read per query group, which separates a surface taking the click from a position being lost.

INDEX STATE

Coverage per template and per page, so a drop caused by deindexing is visible rather than inferred.

POSITION RECOVERY

Positions for the affected group against the pre-drop baseline, week by week.

ENQUIRIES

Enquiries and revenue behind the recovered traffic, because enquiries are what recovery has to produce.

The services behind this work

Recovery draws on the technical and content sides of the same system.

Technical SEO

Crawling, indexing, rendering, redirects and response codes, fixed at the cause.

Search engine optimisation

Coverage, internal links and the pages that hold position after the fix.

AI search optimisation

The surfaces above the results, measured so a surface change is never mistaken for a penalty.

What it costs and how the terms work

Our pricing is published rather than quoted after a call. Terms run month to month with no lock-in, and the audit fee is credited in full if you start within 14 days.

PACKAGES

One search system, two levels of output.

Recovery runs inside the same three components. The audit names the cause. The Managed Search Loop ships and verifies the fixes. The Off-Page Source Layer rebuilds corroboration where the loss was evidence rather than technical.

What every package includes

Every managed program includes the below. Our default is end to end: strategy and implementation, handled.
  • Audits and diagnostics. AI visibility baseline, technical audit, gap analysis and opportunity sizing, run continuously and read weekly.
  • Strategy and plans. A 90-day plan prioritized by commercial impact, broken into weekly shipped releases.
  • Fully handled implementation. Pages, technical work, schema, internal links and source-layer actions: built, approved and deployed by us.
  • Measurement and reporting. Rank, visibility, AI answer presence and enquiries, benchmarked against competitors, reported in a monthly decision memo.
  • Direct access. You talk to the people doing the work. No account managers.
  • Approval gates. A person signs off every public change before it ships, with deployment proof after.
  • Your data, verified. Search Console and GA4 wired and checked, so every claim traces to a number.
  • Experiment memory. Every result feeds the playbook, so nothing gets learned twice.
  • The release log. Watch the work ship in real time, every release logged with its deployment proof.
  • You own everything. Site, repository, content and data are yours from day one. No lock-in beyond the term.

FAQ

Traffic recovery questions

How fast can you tell us the cause?

+
Usually within the audit week, once we have Search Console access and your release history. Some causes need a second week of readings to confirm.

Was it a Google update?

+
Sometimes. Update dates are public, so we match your drop against them first. We rule the technical and surface causes in or out before blaming an update.

Our impressions are steady but clicks fell. What happened?

+
That pattern usually means a surface now answers the query above your result. We check the live results page per query group and record what appears.

Can you recover traffic after a site migration?

+
Yes, and speed matters. Redirect mapping, canonicals and internal links get checked first, because a broken map loses value every week it stays broken.

Do we need to rewrite our content?

+
Only where coverage or quality is the cause. Diagnosis comes first, because rewriting a page with a technical problem changes nothing.

What access do you need?

+
Search Console, analytics, the site and the deploy history. Without release dates the diagnosis takes longer and stays less certain.

What if the traffic does not come back?

+
Then the cause was wrong or the position is genuinely lost, and we say so. The weekly readings against a baseline are what make that answerable.

Who owns the work?

+
Everything ships under your brand. The pages, the data and the access stay yours if the engagement ends.
